Do you think it's ok for little girls to be dressed up/in makeup in beauty pageants?

Do you consider it sexualizing little girls and teaching them to care too much about their looks at a very young age, like 5-8 year olds to be in beauty pageants? Or is it really all in fun and a good experience, maybe even an opportunity for better things?Do you think it's ok for little girls to be dressed up/in makeup in beauty pageants?
I cannot believe that this ever was acceptable. It is not about the girls or how cute or talented they are, it is all about their MOTHERS who always dreamed of being pretty and talented living their fantasies through their girls. It is SO blatantly dysfunctional it is sickening! The girls turn in to spoiled demanding superficial egotistical little brats. And this happened BECAUSE her parents TAUGHT THEM TO BE!! That SHOULD be considered ABUSE!! These girls cannot possibly grow up and ever live a normal life.

FUN? GOOD? NO, it is very serious competition to be judged BETTER than the other girls - and they are not girls, they are heavily made up and spend hours on their hair to look like WOMEN. WHY?

Because GIRLS do not really do that kind of stuff- they play with friends and get dirty. Real girls do not care about hair and make up.

Seriously, the parents should be slapped and put in jail, and this whole pageant thing should no longer exist. To me, it is just as bad as buying a dog and training it to fight.Do you think it's ok for little girls to be dressed up/in makeup in beauty pageants?
I don't have a problem with it because those children aren't mine i don't want to sound rude. But that's the parents decision it's their child and we can't change that. I don't think it's right for young girls under the age of 13 to be in the pageants but again that's not my decision. If the parents decided to dress their child up in that manner then it's their decision not ours no matter what our opinions are, the child isn't ours and if we don't like those sort of things then if we have children we don't have to put them through that. It all has to do with choice and our natural born rights and what not that's why we have the choice to say ';no, i don't want my child involved in such activities';...
I think it is terrible. It's honestly ridiculous! If you've ever seen ';Little Miss Sunshine', you will see particularly at the end, how awful it really is. It isn't natural for people to be judged on their beauty, and in particular, children to be exposed to that from such a young age. People don't realize that everyone is just as beautiful as each other.

Here is an image taken from Little Miss Sunshine, which is a strong demonstration of the extent to which young children will go in beauty pageants, and the sexualizing of young children, which I find highly inappropriate. This picture makes me want to throw up, when I see beautiful little girls ruined entirely by 'trying' to be even more beautiful than they already are, which makes them look horrible. Little Miss Sunshine is a excellent film, by the way, and takes the mickey out of beauty pageants, and sexualizing children.
