What do you think about beauty pageant's?

Especially the ones that involve little girls ages 1-14. Are these children being exploited by their mothers or are they learning charm, poise and confidence as their mothers claim? Is is right to do all the big hair, makeup, tanning and the glitzy clothes for a little girl? What kind of women are these stage mothers? What do you think about beauty pageant's?
I find it immoral and disgusting. I believe in free thought and those formative years are crucial to a childs development. They're not little toys, they're human beings who deserve the right to be children. Vanity should NEVER be taught to a female, especially such a young one. That's something you develop on your own as you grow. I literally am repulsed by the mothers who are so spiritually disconnected that they don't see what they're turning their children into. What do you think about beauty pageant's?
I hate pageants. Especially the ones for little girls. They are not learning charm and poise and confidence. They are learning to be fake, to compete with others, to measure themselves by their peers, to place their self-worth in something as shallow as their looks. Many girls who are beauty queens end up spoiled, entitled, snotty, and generally not very nice people.

Personally I think it's just wrong to fix up a little girl and make her look like a sexy grown woman. It's perverse! There's no way in heck I would ever wanna fix up my innocent little peanut to look like a pedophile's dream. And I don't think it is healthy for a child to become so focused on their body, either.

I don't know what kind of women those stage mothers are. I doubt that all of them are fulfilling themselves vicariously through their daughters, although some definitely are. Some are in it for the status of having a kid who is better looking than everyone else's kid, and that's pretty scummy.
Under 14 is sick, disturbing on many levels; appeals to the more prurient adult interests incl pedophiles and does damage to the children by skewing their POVs re themselves and their perceptions and values, and is, frankly, shocking when you see these little girls dressed up in these ridiculous dresses and have makeup that no adult woman would wear. Outrageous.
I find them disgusting.

That argument about charm etc. is completely bogus. A pageant is an artificial, and is not a social, environment. The way to learn things like charm is to learn how to navigate social situations.

You don't learn how to converse by parading around on a stage, hoping to beat the competition.

I also think dressing one's young child like a mid-priced hooker is child abuse.
I think the little girls probably like the attention but it also teaches them at an early age that their looks are the most important quality they posses. I dont think they should be made to look like women with makeup and big hair and stuff. I think the mothers motives are very selfish. Why would you put your 2 year old through something like that other that for your own gratification?
Beauty Pageants for little girls are not for the children, it is a way for the parents to live vicariously through their children. It is the same with the pressure parents put on their kids in sports at a young age.

It is more the insecurity of the parents that need this to show their worth as a parent.
';What do you think about beauty pageant's?'; - The sole purpose of my living on earth is to watch them.

1-14 ? That's just insane. Stupidity. It's these people that later complain that their girls are depressed that they don't fit in with the media's stereotypes of what's attractive.
Most people who aren't actually involved in child beauty pageants will agree that they're horrifying and disturbing events.
They're ok...

As for ages 1-14 my only question is WHY?? These people turn minors into sex objects then complain about all the pedophiles.
They suck, especially those for children. Well, they are actually for the parent(s).
I have seen them on tv and we dont have them here. America is messed up for having stuff like that
